The game takes elements from many different games including, solitaire, word search, and matching games. However, the game adds similar puzzle mechanics to Candy Crush with a different exciting theme and its own unique challenges. If you just played Toon Blast, then you’ve probably given 5 lives to play with. Each life play in a round begins by having all of your balloons touch the bottom of the pot. After each life, another balloon must add to the pot to continue playing.
The main objective of Toon Blast
pop the bubbles from using special tools like the disco ball, spinning cups, and the ice cream cone. When enough bubbles popped, they will move to the next level. However, at level 20, a special unlockable item called the mega dino allows you to destroy multiple enemies with one single blow. This allows you to do double duty by using the disco ball, spinning cups, and the ice cream cone in one powerful burst.
At level 20, there a special item called the star chest that will award you with a gold star. The star chest also gives you extra lives, restoring them every time you clear a combo. The combination of these items and the regular Toon Blast gameplay makes this game very challenging. Completing the challenges earns you the platinum trophy, which you can trade for a newer and higher quality machine if you wish to keep playing.
Toons Blast is only available for a limited time on Nintendo Wii,
though it does have a special version for the console itself called the “Wii Fit” game. The Wii Fit offers many more fitness games, such as Yoga, Tai Chi, and aerobics. The regular Toon Blast mode will still work with the Wii Fit, but the special versions offer you the chance to play with a specially designed interface that makes performing combos easier.
The game has received mixed reviews, with some people praising its difficulty but saying that it is too easy. Other people said it is not challenging enough to warrant a place in any top 10 best games list. Many players have reported that the controls are not as simple or intuitive as possible, but it does feel good to use. However, some users have complained that the controls don’t respond as quickly as they would like. But this can often be worked around by holding the controller a bit tighter. One reviewer noted that he had trouble making the combos that he wanted to do in this game due to the controls’ clumsiness. But this seems to be an area that will most likely be fixed in future updates.
The music and sound effects are both enjoyable,
The tunes are bright and upbeat, with a nice blend of animation for the special machines. The graphics are fairly basic and won’t appeal to everyone, but I personally find them well done and quite enjoyable. The one complaint that I have is that, at times, the action happens so quickly that I am confused about who is doing what and where. There is a sequence where you have to go through three sets of obstacles in less than ten seconds, and the perspective switches rapidly between the three different characters. It can get a bit frustrating.
Toon Blast is currently only available on the Wii, but the developers hope to bring it to other platforms. It is still far from being a mainstream game, so it will most likely remain exclusive to the Wii for now. Online gaming will always be more popular than video games in general, so Wii gamers should expect it to make a bit of noise in the future. I’m not sure if I’ll be spending a lot of time playing it, but I am optimistic that I’ll like it.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for a casual but fun video game, then I definitely recommend Toon Blast. It’s just as fun to play alone as it is with a group of friends. There’s enough content to keep anyone busy for hours. What I don’t know is whether it will have the same luck with other online games. I’ve played enough Plants vs. Zombies games to know that they never seem to have a big update for the most part. Wii owners have no complaints about this at all. The only thing that could turn me off is that it isn’t yet available on the Wii. But since it’s on every major gaming platform, including the Wii, I figure it’s a safe bet.
